October 21st marks Back to the Future Day, a celebration of the iconic film franchise. This year, fans can join in the festivities embracing the digital future with the release of the Back to the Future x Funko Series 1 Digital Pop! collection. SYFY WIRE has an exclusive first look at these collectibles, which will be available on October 17th.
The Back to the Future x Funko Series 1 Digital Pop! collection features six new digital collectibles inspired all three films in the franchise. Fans can get their hands on Funko stylized Pop! figures of beloved characters, including Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Lorraine Baines, Griff Tannen, George McFly, and Freddy Funko as Doc Brown.
What sets these collectibles apart is the incorporation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into digital trading cards. Each Funko Digital Pop! can be purchased as part of standard or premium collectible packs. Standard packs contain five Digital Pops! and retail for $9.99 USD, while premium packs contain fifteen Digital Pops! and retail for $19.99 USD.
To purchase the Back to the Future x Funko Series 1 Digital Pop! collectibles, fans can visit the NFT Droppp.io platform on October 17th. The collectibles can be bought using a credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The purchase of each pack gives collectors the chance to reveal a rare Funko Digital Pop!, which can be redeemed for one of six limited-edition physical Pop! collectibles.
Funko has a longstanding relationship with the Back to the Future franchise, with the first Funko Pop! figures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown released in 2013. Since then, there have been various versions of the characters from all three films, including a special 35th anniversary line of Pops!.
